Frequently Asked Questions
Financial & ROI
The IdleX System pays for itself from the first month. Financed with a new truck on standard terms, the monthly payment is typically a fraction of what the system saves in fuel and eliminated APU maintenance. Owners are cash-flow positive out of the gate, not waiting on a payback horizon.
Yes. The simplest path is rolling the unit into the financing on a new truck, and standalone fleet financing options are available for existing trucks. The monthly payment is typically smaller than the monthly savings, so the system reduces net operating expense from the start rather than adding a cost line.
Federal law, under the FAST Act, allows for a weight exemption of up to 550 lbs. for trucks equipped with an idling reduction device. Unlike conventional APUs, our patent pending unified power system completely eliminates the 120 to 240 lbs. of lead-acid starter batteries from the truck. Because our system often weighs less than the batteries it replaces, fleets can realize a net cargo capacity gain. This allows you to haul more freight and generate more revenue on every load.
Frequently Asked Questions
Performance & Reliability
Yes. The IdleX System is a complete, unified power system with a patent pending on the entire architecture. It eliminates conventional lead-acid starter batteries and replaces both the starter bank and the legacy APU with a single intelligent module. Fewer parts, less weight, less maintenance, fewer points of failure.
The IdleX System is designed for true all-night performance in real-world heat, from Miami to Phoenix. Where legacy electric APUs fade after a few hours in high temperatures, our 48V system delivers the power needed for a full mandated rest period without requiring an engine auto-start.
The IdleX System offers a 2kW diesel-fired heater, the proven standard for sleeper cab warmth. Unlike a diesel APU, it draws no engine hours, sips fuel by the ounce, and runs whisper-quiet. The intelligent controller manages it automatically, so the cab stays warm without the driver touching a thing.
Cold is a battery problem before it is a comfort problem, and the IdleX System is built for it. The intelligent controller readies the core components for a reliable start in freezing temperatures, and the diesel-fired heater keeps the cab warm on the coldest nights without idling the engine.
No APU Engine: The core system has no separate diesel engine, no belts, oil, filters, or pulleys. That eliminates the most common reasons for APU service calls.
Solid-State Durability: LFP battery chemistry is rated for years of service life, not the two-year replacement cycle of typical AGM batteries.
Intelligent Software: Onboard monitoring flags issues early, before they become a road call.
Frequently Asked Questions
Driver Safety & Retention
In a competitive market for experienced drivers, quality of life on the road is a major factor in retention. The IdleX System provides the quiet, vibration-free, climate-controlled environment that allows for true restorative sleep. Drivers notice the difference, and fleets know what turnover costs: industry studies put driver replacement north of $10,000 per departure.
Driver fatigue is a critical safety issue and a major financial risk for fleets. FMCSA’s Large Truck Crash Causation Study found 13% of commercial drivers were fatigued at the time of their crash, and poor sleep quality from a noisy, vibrating engine or an uncomfortable cab is a frequent cause. The IdleX System addresses the conditions that degrade rest: noise, vibration, and temperature. Better rest conditions mean better-rested drivers, and every fleet manager knows what that’s worth.
Frequently Asked Questions
Installation & Service
The IdleX System is designed for a one-day installation by the shop that already services your trucks, whether that’s an outside service provider or your own maintenance bay. There is no proprietary installer network and no certification requirement, so install can be scheduled alongside regular preventive maintenance to minimize downtime for your fleet.
It means zero scheduled maintenance on the core system. Unlike diesel APUs that require constant oil changes, filter replacements, and belt service, the IdleX System is a sealed system with no mechanical engine to service. And unlike the AGM battery banks in typical electric APUs, which need replacement every couple of years, our LFP battery chemistry is rated for thousands of cycles and years of service life. That eliminates two significant and unpredictable line items from your maintenance budget.
Our support model is built to catch problems early:
5-Year Warranty: The core system is backed by a comprehensive warranty for long-term peace of mind.
Remote Monitoring: The system reports its status to your fleet manager, so small issues get addressed before they become road calls.
Over-the-Air Updates: New features and improvements deploy to your entire fleet remotely.
Frequently Asked Questions
Technology & Software
Our HVAC system is purpose-built for the sleeper cab, with the cooling capacity and airflow to keep the cab comfortable through a full rest period in real-world heat. It uses an efficient 48V DC brushless compressor designed for exactly this job: quiet, durable, and built for extreme conditions.
Yes. We offer a mobile app for iOS and Android that lets drivers control their climate, check system status, and cool the cab down before they climb in.
The fleet management portal gives you a fleet-wide view of system status, usage data, and alerts, so your team sees what’s happening across every truck from one screen.
The IdleX System is built on standard vehicle data (J1939/CAN), so it speaks the same language as the telematics tools fleets already run. Talk to us about your stack and we’ll walk you through how IdleX data fits into it.
